24GenNEXT is 24G's initiative to empower the next generation of STEAM learners to harness the power of technology to bring their creative ideas to life. We do this by engaging, educating, and empowering the next generation by making technology approachable, simple, and fun.
We are partnering with local businesses, libraries, and advocates to introduce the accessibility of technology to all generations by showcasing its simplicity and reach. Our goal is to help those who have limited access to cutting-edge technology, those who have yet to see the power of technology in problem-solving, and — most crucially — parents of the next generation who want to foster their children's interest in technology but have no idea where to start. Simply put, we will guide compelling user experiences that solve problems, tell stories, and move participants.
We participated once again in the global Hour of Code, introducing young minds to the power that Computer Sciences gives them.
We harnessed the creative power of LEGO and programming to build an interactive experience. Participants built a LEGO arch to place on a LEGO map and programmed Sphero Mini robots to navigate from a starting point through the arch, teaching them how to bring the digital world into the physical one.
We took our attendees to the stars and taught them the transformative power of VR technology! Each participant got their own Google Cardboard viewer that they got to decorate with their personal style, then take an interactive trip into the universe.
We introduced our STEAM learners to the concept of circuits and the magical combination of science and art, by having them create a flower by using dyed coffee filters, before lighting them up with LEDs.
